Clinical Nutrition is a market that combines features of both the pharmaceutical and the consumer food sectors.Milopo sets itself apart in its ability to take the very best of both, combining a medically driven sales force with a consumer-led research and development focus, to deliver a range of products and services aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being of patients.

Clinical Nutrition is a growing market. In the Western World, this is influenced by factors, such as;

Ageing population, in whom a greater prevalence and incidence of disease requiring enteral nutrition.
Advance in diagnostic techniques and screening policies.
Increased awareness among healthcare professionals and the link between nutrition and health.
Enteral clinical nutrition lately has been used more frequently due to its perceived safety for patients.
More treatments are being provided for in the homecare and community setting.

Our strategy is to focus on driving our product portfolio into the more disease specific and specialised dietetic nutrition categories; at the same time, focussing on enhancing our efforts in channels outside the hospital sector, including homecare organisations, including homecare organisations, nursing homes and pharmacies.

Looking forward, some of our focus will be to continue growth in the SDN and ECN markets, raising awareness among healthcare professionals of the potential to convert from parenteral to enteral nutrition; to diversify into key disease segments such as oncology, diabetes and dysphagia as demand increases for ECN treatment in these areas and to strengthen our position in the home and community care segments.
